Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings”

Gratitude is the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. It’s a quality which means that it’s a state of being, it’s a character trait, it’s a mindset. Today’s topic is more of a heartfelt message than it is an article.

I will share with you this short example which hopefully will make you think differently after reading today’s post. There’s a man driving a brand new Mercedes somewhere, wishing he could have a private jet, another is driving an old Nissan, wishing he could have that brand new Mercedes. There’s one cycling, wishing he could attain that old Nissan just so he can drive. There’s another walking wishing he could bike and another one, is in a wheel chair wishing he could use his legs.
Too often we choose to focus on what we don’t have that we forget to be grateful for what we do have. We forget to be grateful and instead we desire what we “lack” in life. Do you know how much you actually have in life? No, I am not talking about the material things such as shelter, a vehicle or money. Neither am I talking about your life achievements or success and state. I am talking about the small things we take for granted. The things we consider “normal” Yes, many of us are grateful for the gift of life because we wake up every day, and go about our usual day to day business. However, when last did you think about the fact that you can see, speak, walk, hear as something to be grateful for?

It’s not everyone, that lives to see another day, granted, but a really big percentage of the 7 billion(+) people on earth, that get to wake up in the morning, wake up blind, deaf, dumb, crippled or even mentally ill. They slept, just as you did and overnight one thing or another happened and they are no longer the same as they were before they went to bed. They can no longer do what they could before. They no longer can be who they were. You thought your eyes, your ears, your voice, your hands, legs everything that you are must be there? You thought that it’s normal? Or do you think that you are entitled to it? No, it’s a gift, which aside from everything external, you should be highly grateful for.

On top of all these things, we have the possibility to feed, clothe, have shelter and go about our daily lives. When last did you take a minute not to desire more but to be grateful? Adapt this mentality and I promise you, that you’ll attract more positivity, more blessings and even more of your personal desires into your life. Gratitude is part of the law of attraction. Some way somehow, the more you chase after things, the harder it is to get them. Am sure most of us have experienced this. Why not try a different way? Be grateful and content with what you have, and instead of chasing, work towards achieving what you wish to attain. Yes, there is a difference between chasing something and working towards attaining something. After chasing something, once it’s caught, it’s bound to slip away again, but if you put in work, effort and patience, then once you attain something, then it will definitely remain yours.

With gratitude, comes contentment, joy, humility, and patience for what’s to come. Don’t be eager lusting for what you don’t have and forget what you have. Gratitude is not momentarily, it’s a state of being, so always be grateful.
